February 8th is Moo Cow Day ~ GOT MILK?
Posted on February 8th, 2010 1 commentThe ”“GOT MILK “” advertising/public relations campaign has to be one of the quirkiest marketing ‘branding’ campaigns of all time!
The Dairy industry’s “GOT MILK “campaign is arguably the most successful campaigns of all time.“Got Milk? is an American advertising campaign encouraging the consumption of cow’s milk, which was created by the advertising agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners for the California Milk Processor Board in 1993 and later licensed for use by milk processors and dairy farmers. It has been running since October 1993. The campaign has been credited with greatly increasing milk sales in California though not nationwide.” (source: Wikipedia)
Their advertising billboards, print ads and television spots have earned the slogan the reputation of being “an international icon and the phrase has been parodied more than any other ad slogan.”From celebrities to children to senior citizens to the animal kingdom, the “GOT MILK “ campaign has covered a lot of ground.
In addition to the two pictures shown here, there are even a couple of ‘bare-breasted’ campaign (okay, not porn) of babies getting ready to nurse on their mothers entitled “Did You Think You Could Ever Be This Happy Again?” I would assume it is geared toward the male population. So what kind of slogan could you come up with in your business that could potentially go viral and hit the world by storm?
One way is to hire an ad agency to come up with your slogan.
Another way would be to create a focus group (or mastermind) of people who 1. use your product/service and 2. those who don’t but who have people in their lives who do/could.
Having a strong slogan or tagline could brand your company and make it the dominant leader in your industry.
So anyone “Got Quirky?”
