February 3-9 is National Leadership Week

Does a local organization in your community host a National Leadership Week awards recognition ceremony?  If so, be a co-sponsor and get the word out about your company and the leadership role you take.  If there isn’t one, partner with a high visibility group such as your local chamber of commerce or economic development group to create the award. Then host an event to present the award to community leaders.  It could be a breakfast, lunch or dinner event, formal or informal.

When I was president of the Miramar – Pembroke Chamber of Commerce, we hosted a BIG BUSINESS award. We already had a Small Business of the year awards ceremony which coincided with National Small Business Week.  And the board thought it would be a good idea to gain some visibility for the chamber AND the business with the award. It worked! Not only was the business honored (and surprised I might ad) all the local media covered the event. As the official representative I was quoted in the paper as was the committee chair, a local printer.

The important part of awards ceremonies are to recognize the known and unknown leaders in your community for their involvement and success.
